Casting the Sinister Six in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Damian Lewis as Electro
After seeing what Jamie Foxx did as Maxwell Dillon/Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it's time for a fresh take on the character. First of all, the character needs to be done right, and he needs an actor who can bring a memorable performance. In our eyes, that actor is Damian Lewis, who we feel is due for a big time role.
We won't say Foxx did a terrible job since he's actually a fantastic actor. It's more about the writing and direction. In reality, it doesn't matter how good an actor is. If he doesn't have a good script and a solid director guiding him on the right path, then there's only so much he can do. With the rights back with Marvel, Homecoming was able to accurately portray these characters, which gives us hope for the sequel.
In the comics, Maxwell is a complex individual. His father ran out on him when he was younger, his mother died when he was 24, and his wife left him for another man. He channels all this anger, disappointment and frustration into being Electro once he's struck by lightning while being close to the electrical power lines.
We aren't sure whether an origin story is in place for the character or if Marvel will go this route at all. We saw what Jon Watts did in Homecoming with the Vulture, who didn't have any special powers. The Vulture channels his power from a special harness in the comics, but we just aren't sure.
Going back to Lewis, he may also be another actor who doesn't stand out for some people. But based on his physical presence and overlooked talent, he can definitely pull off the role. You may have seen his great work in the TV series, Billions. You'll also be able to see him in the upcoming Ocean's 8.
